Thymosin Alpha-1
Thymosin Alpha-1 is a 28-amino-acid peptide derived from the thymus gland that modulates T-cell development and immune signaling.
It promotes the maturation of T-cell progenitors into functional CD4+ and CD8+ lymphocytes and activates toll-like receptors on dendritic cells, shifting immune activity toward a Th1 response.
Marketed as Zadaxin, it holds regulatory approval in more than 30 countries for hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and as an immune adjuvant, though it is not approved by the FDA in the United States.
Clinical trials spanning viral hepatitis, cancer immunotherapy, and immunodeficiency continue to inform research into its role in immune modulation.
